Miss Lisa Whitman

Lisa Whitman began her competitive training in Mississauga, Ontario at age 4. She is a graduate of Cawthra Park Arts High school where she studied the history and technique of Modern and Ballet, as well kinesiology. Lisa continues her technical training in Jazz, Tap, Ballet and Lyrical and takes workshops in all discipline across Canada and the U.S.

As a teacher and choreographer, Lisa is expanding her knowledge by becoming certified with Canadian Dance Teachers Association, Dance Masters of America and is in the process of completing A.D.A.P.T. Lisa has also expanded her dancing into fitness training and became certified as a Kids Yoga Instructor, Adult Yoga Instructor, Pilates Mat Instructor and is in the process of receiving her CAN FIT PRO in Personal Training. Lisa continuously finds new ways to bring her students the knowledge and skill they should be receiving.

Previously, Lisa has taught and choreographed for Humber College’s Dance Team and The University of Waterloo’s Dance team for their competitive season. As well as taking part in a new dance company called ONE Movement in Cambridge, Ontario. This company highlights the importance of a bully free environment in elementary schools, through the art of dance. This year (2013) Lisa choreographed the musical “Hairspray” with a Theatre Production Company; MyStage Left Productions in Toronto, including a cast of 40 dancers/singers/actors.

Lisa hopes to bring passion to all her students and show them the same love of dance that she has received. She is thrilled to be teaching at The Dance Shoppe and is excited to be a part of such a wonderful team and group of dancers.
